A barcode is a requirement for working with retail chains, distributors, warehouses and marketplaces. We arrange associated membership in GS1 Ukraine, prepare the registration card and file the application online — you end up with GS1 numbers issued to your own company.
A GS1 number is not a formality for the till. It is needed anywhere goods must be identified beyond doubt: in a chain, in a warehouse, on a customs form and in another country.
Without a barcode a product is not added to the catalogue at all. It is the first thing a supermarket category manager asks for, alongside the product paperwork.
Rozetka, Prom, Amazon and others use the GTIN as the key to a product listing — it keeps your item from being merged with a competitor’s.
Goods-in, stocktaking, order picking — all of it is scanning. Without your own numbers a warehouse assigns an internal code that works nowhere else.
A GTIN ties one product line together across your own accounting, your delivery notes and your counterparty’s system — even when each of them spells the name differently.
A GS1 number is unique worldwide: in any country the goods are identified by your number, and no separate numbering is needed for export.
Fulfilment services only take goods into storage with machine-readable marking — otherwise a consignment cannot be identified on the shelf.

In Ukraine that is the GS1 Ukraine association. This is why “buying a barcode” from an intermediary who is not a member means receiving a number registered to somebody else’s company.
